Title: History of Gold
Materials: images from online, adobe photoshop, procreate
Size: 1572 x 2100
The color gold is the "color of desire" according to the Secret Lives of Color. It has been tied to power, religion, and beauty. I used the gold hands and light to show how people always are reaching for it, like it's holy. The old ruins in the background represents the history of how people have always been obsessed even after their empires faded, and the ruins also give an idea of how long ago it was discovered. The sun and the wings for how gold has also been tied to light.
Ginger Flame
A color born from ember's glow,
both loved and feared so long ago,
It burned in hair, in hearts, in skin,
a fire the world could not keep in.
Through every age, through shame and fame,
still softly flickers, gingers flame.
Color: Ginger
I wrote this poem because I wanted to capture the idea of how ginger has always been both admired and judged. In The Secret Lives of Color, ginger is described as fiery, rare, and misunderstood. Something that burns quietly throughout history. My poem was to show that mix of beauty and resilience, how the color keeps glowing no matter if people like it or not.
