Secret lives of color

Color: Gold
Title: History of Gold
Materials: images from online, adobe photoshop, procreate
Size: 1572 x 2100
The color gold is the "color of desire" according to the Secret Lives of Color. It has been tied to power, religion, and beauty. I used the gold hands and light to show how people always are reaching for it, like it's holy. The old ruins in the background represents the history of how people have always been obsessed even after their empires faded, and the ruins also give an idea of how long ago it was discovered. The sun and the wings for how gold has also been tied to light.

Ginger Flame

A color born from ember's glow,
both loved and feared so long ago,
It burned in hair, in hearts, in skin,
a fire the world could not keep in.
Through every age, through shame and fame,
still softly flickers, gingers flame.

Color: Ginger
I wrote this poem because I wanted to capture the idea of how ginger has always been both admired and judged. In The Secret Lives of Color, ginger is described as fiery, rare, and misunderstood. Something that burns quietly throughout history. My poem was to show that mix of beauty and resilience, how the color keeps glowing no matter if people like it or not.

Art 21

 Laleh Khorramian

video link

I would describe Laleh's art as destructive, and collage like.

I chose this piece of art because It shows Laleh's style of work. Other than her films that she creates, she sees art in everything. She believes there is a darker sense of reality and often times fairytales have darker meanings. This piece of art kind of shows the mystery behind how she views art and reality.

I chose this piece of her work to showcase the scrapbook/layering feeling of her work. She puts a lot of thought into each image that you don't often notice at first glance but the more you look at it the more you begin to become curious.

The rest of these images are just some really cool pieces she created.

A few of my favorite things

1. Record tote bag. I chose this because I love music, especially old music and I collect records and CDs. I have a vintage record player and CD player and music is one of my favorite hobbies.
2. Sunshine necklace. I chose this because my dad got it for me the first time we visited St. Augustine. It reminds me of the beach and the sun of course, which is another one of my favorite things.
3. Mini skateboard. I chose this because it reminds me of my brother. We are very close he's my best friend, we are only 13 months apart. He taught me how to skate and play tech decks.
4. Crochet flowers. I chose this item because flowers are so beautiful to me. I enjoy making bouquets and I love to always have fresh flowers in my room. My boyfriend got me the crochet flowers so that "they will never die" so they are special to me.
5. Leather journal. I also got this journal the first time I visited St. Augustine and the journal is made of leather cloth and real homemade paper pages. I chose this because inside the journal contains letters all my loved ones have written me.
6. Passport. Lastly I chose the passport because I travel a lot and have tons of trips coming up and I would love to follow in my mom's footsteps and become a world traveler.
